First They Came

I believe in and support the constitution. As well as the founding principles of America, such as separation of church and state, freedom of speech, equal rights, the right to a fair trial, etc. These are the things that make us great.

It is not about what Trump is doing, it is how he is doing it. He is unraveling the very tapestry that wove our country and cultures together. What good is our government if left as a tangle of thread? What good is our country if we do not hold true to our core values?

We become fear, and it turns to hate. A country divided is a country controlled. It is not the immigrants. It is not the poor. It is not the atheists or religious zealots. It is not the media.

It is the billionaires and the corporations — the insatiable greed, moral corruption, and quest for power. It is those so detached from us that they cannot fathom our realities or simply do not care. Our perceived differences are nothing in comparison.

Do not let hate win. We are better, together. I genuinely believe that through understanding, kindness, and compassion we will begin to see a brighter future. Let us talk and redefine what it means to be a community. We cannot go back what was, but we can create something new.

Stand United against those that would tear apart what we (and our forebears) worked so hard to weave into something strong, and beautiful.

We the people.

First They Came:

by PASTOR MARTIN NIEMÖLLER

“First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me”
